Mark Simmons is a Nashville-based interior designer who has worked in the design profession for over 26 years. Mark specializes in creating spaces that are timeless and elegant, yet warm and inviting. He is known for traditional design with a European flair, yet is equally skilled in creating other styles. Regardless of the style, Mark's clients know that the end result will be a classic interior that will stand the test of time.
As a graduate of the O'More College of Design, Mark began his career as an associate designer with William Hamilton and Associates in Nashville in 1981. In 1991 Mark founded his own design firm, Mark Simmons Interiors, and remains the sole interior designer on staff. Personal relationships are key to Mark's success, as he believes that it is only through establishing a personal relationship with each client that he can best create spaces that truly reflect the individual's personality and lifestyle. He gives enormous credit to his office staff and an assembled team of talented artisans who support and execute his designs, and who make sure that all phases of a project run smoothly.
While much of Mark's award-winning work has been in homes in Nashville and throughout the Southeast, he's also completed projects in San Francisco, Dallas, Fort Worth and New York. Mark was named Southeast Designer of the Year by Southern Accents and the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center in 1998 and 1999. His work has been featured in Southern Accents, Southern Living and numerous local publications and was also chosen to appear in The Andrew Martin International Design Review which showcases the work of outstanding designers from around the world. Mark was also selected by Bunny Williams to participate in the development of her Beeline Home furniture line which he represents from his Nashville office.
Away from the office, Mark devotes his time to his family and his church and to various community organizations that allow him to use his professional talents to benefit others. Locally, he has worked with Habitat for Humanity, Room at the Inn and several Junior League of Nashville Designer Showhouses and has travelled to Honduras on homebuilding mission trips.
A native of Glasgow, Kentucky, Mark has been married to his wife, Sissy, for 23 years. They have successfully reared four teenage children, Grayson, Guy, Amy Kate and Alli along with two dogs and one cat among fine antiques, fabrics and breakables in their Nashville home.
